The Tao On Government

Disclaimer
To demonstrate that I have a small measure of self-discipline, the following excerpt from the Tao Te Ching is presented without any commentary. Believe me, I may burst, but that's just the way it is here at the Place.

Chapter 58 - When the Government Is Unobtrusive
When the government is unobtrusive,
the people are pure.
When the government is invasive,
the people are wanting.
Calamity is what fortune depends upon;
fortune is what calamity subdues.

Who knows how it will all end?

Is there no right and wrong?
The orthodox also becomes unorthodox,
and the good also becomes ill;
people's confusion is indeed long-standing.
Therefore, practioners of the Way are
upright without causing injury,
honest without hurting,
direct but not tactless,
illumined but not flashy.

Raaar!
